National Cleaning Week starts each year on the fourth Sunday in March. This year, it’s taking place from March 22-28, 2020. Right in time for spring cleaning, National Cleaning Week is meant to celebrate the value of cleaning and clean environments on public health, the environment, and the economy.
This week is an opportunity to focus on the value that cleaning brings to our homes, offices, retail, restaurants, warehouses, hospitals, schools, governments, and more. The week’s focus goes beyond just vacuuming and wiping down your counters. It’s about implementing good cleaning practices overall and finding new ways to prevent the spread of bacteria, allergens, and other hazardous particles.
Now more than ever it’s important to recognize the value of keeping surfaces as clean as possible. With COVID-19 cases on the rise, robust cleaning practices are important in all public places as well as at home to prevent the spread of the disease. This year, National Cleaning Week has especially poignant relevancy.
The ISSA and National Cleaning Week
The ISSA is the leading trade association for the global cleaning industry. They work to promote the importance of thorough cleaning at all levels of government and industries by providing education, training, and conferences to raise the profile of the cleaning industry.
The ISSA has over 9000 members, including Janitized®, who all work to unify the industry, create new technologies, and raise standards around the world for cleaning. Each year, they host an annual trade show to bring the industry together. This year for National Cleaning Week, the ISSA is holding the first Clean Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC to focus on public policy priorities within the industry.
What Can You Do?
If you’re involved in the cleaning industry, National Cleaning Week is a good opportunity to promote the industry’s values and workers to the public. The ISSA is using this week to promote a variety of public initiatives to bring attention to the importance of good cleaning practices. Your company can contribute by organizing events, attending events, supporting ISSA charities, and raising public awareness through email campaigns and social media.
If you’re a consumer, take advantage of the extra motivation and get your spring cleaning started this month. Getting rid of clutter and deep cleaning some places that may not get extra attention often is a great way to feel liberated, motivated, and ready for the new season.
